2019 Summer Concerts on the Campus

With the long and wicked Winter of '18/'19 finally loosening it's icy grip on us, it's time to get excited for another great season of free live music on our beautiful, historic Campus in the center of town. The Mt. Morris Jamboree aims to please, bringing a wide variety of music to 13 Friday nights for our eighth Summer running.

We're pleased to announce that Aireloom Music Studios will be helping provide sound for a number of acts this year. All shows are free to the public with the party starting at 6 pm, welcoming a different group providing food and drink concessions every Friday, mostly by local charitable organizations. Several local small businesses will often be on hand to sell their wares, too.

You'll want to show up early to peruse the nearby Mt. Morris Community Farmers' Market, open from 4-7 before the concerts and make time to visit the Encore Art Gallery in Old Sandstone, featuring a new show for each of the three Summer months.

All performances start at 7 pm and run until at least 9. Here's your lineup of bands for 2019, opening with a grand blast of joyful noise courtesy of returning Jamboree favorites from Wisconsin on:

June 7th:       The Jimmys - Blues, Soul, R&B and Funk

First Fridays Open Stage - April 5th
The “First Fridays Open Stage” music performances take place on the first Friday of every month at the Mt. Morris Moose at 101 Moose Drive, just off East Hitt Street. There is ample free parking and is handicapped accessible.

Registration begins at 6:30 pm, with the show at 7:00pm. Admission is by donation.

Each musician or band performs for 15 minutes. After the individual performances (including late arrivals), all of the musicians will gather on stage for a jam session to wrap up the evening’s festivities, ending with "Will The Circle Be Unbroken".

Talented musicians from across Northern Illinois, and often neighboring states, appear on a regular basis. The music often described as New Folk or Americana is varied and includes country, bluegrass, blues, folk, mountain soul, gospel, soft rock, and eclectic mixes of all of the above. Instruments are all acoustic and a professional sound system engineered by Kent Enders is supplied. Participation is encouraged so bring your instrument and join the show, or kick back and listen to the music. Call 815-973-0942 for more information.

First Fridays is a part of Northern Illinois’ Friday night music scene along with 2nd Fridays in Lanark, 3rd Fridays in Franklin Grove, a new 4th Friday at the Dixon Senior Center, and special 5th Friday (when they occur) shows in Franklin Grove.

First Fridays was founded in 2001 &  is hosted by Ron Colson
